Vanguard Healthcare Solutions has launched Vanguard Life Sciences, a new division focused on delivering high-specification cleanroom and containment facilities for organisations across the life sciences sector.
The launch is supported through a collaboration with Enbloc, a specialist contractor delivering technical environments including cleanrooms, containment suites and laboratories.
“The collaboration brings complementary strengths that allow us to deliver complete, compliant cleanroom and containment facilities using a modern modular approach,” Lindsay Dransfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Vanguard Healthcare Solutions, told Cleanroom Technology.
The division will deliver fully integrated cleanroom and containment suites using modern methods of construction, targeting sectors including pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, research laboratories and advanced therapies.
Expansion driven by government action
The move into life sciences reflects increasing investment in the sector and demand for specialist research and manufacturing infrastructure.
Dransfield said that entering the life sciences sector is a natural evolution for Vanguard, which has long-standing experience in delivering healthcare facilities.
“As a British manufacturer with our own production facility in Hull, Vanguard is well placed to support this growth by delivering the infrastructure required to enable new laboratories, production environments and specialist facilities,” said Dransfield.
The move by Vanguard to grow its life sciences sector is in part driven by the government’s Life Sciences Sector Plan, which offers a strong national focus on research, development and advanced manufacturing.
Offsite cleanroom delivery model
According to Mark Ostle, Head of Business Development for Vanguard Life Sciences, the new division aims to differentiate itself from other life science construction experts through an offsite construction model that integrates cleanroom environments within modular facilities.
“Vanguard Life Sciences facilities are manufactured offsite…allowing complete mobile, modular or demountable facilities to be produced with a high level of premanufactured value before arriving on site,” said Ostle.
Ostle said the approach offers advantages, such as improved quality control, faster project delivery and significantly reduced disruption during installation.
“It also allows us to offer a much greater level of flexibility to clients,” said Ostle.
Flexible funding and infrastructure options
The new division will also offer a range of funding options.
Vanguard Life Sciences will provide the modular facilities through rental, lease or purchase models, working with clients to identify the most appropriate option for their operational and financial requirements.
“Our facilities can also be temporary or permanent, depending on the need. For example, a client may require additional space for a short term clinical trial, or they may need a permanent expansion of their research or manufacturing capability,” said Ostle.
