TerThera adds dedicated cleanroom for medical isotope production

The pharmaceutical manufacturer has installed its first production line dedicated to terbium-161, strengthening its planned GMP manufacturing capacity for the radioisotope and its future global supply

TerThera has installed its first production line dedicated exclusively to terbium-161 (Tb-161), a radioactive isotope being developed for targeted cancer treatments.

TerThera is a pharmaceutical manufacturer that develops and supplies terbium-based radioisotopes for targeted radionuclide therapy and radiopharmaceutical applications.

The installation involved Comecer, whose assembly team was responsible for building the production line. 

TerThera said the assembly was completed using a lean process designed to maximise efficiency.

The company said the dedicated line will support the production of GMP-grade Tb-161, with the facility intended to provide a reliable supply of the radioisotope for use in the development and manufacture of targeted radiopharmaceuticals.

Once operational, the line is expected to enable daily production of Tb-161 and supply customers globally.

The newly installed production infrastructure forms part of TerThera’s wider manufacturing setup for Tb-161, with the company targeting increased availability of the radioisotope for the radiopharmaceutical sector.
