A partnership has been established between ASML and Tata Electronics to create India’s first 30mm semiconductor fabrication facility.
Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), ASML will deploy its lithography platforms and associated solutions to support operations at Tata Electronics’ upcoming Dholera facility.
ASML is a Netherlands-based global semiconductor equipment manufacturer specialising in advanced lithography systems used in chip production, while Tata Electronics is an India-based electronics and semiconductor manufacturing company.
The companies will collaborate on workforce training, research initiatives, and the development of local semiconductor supply chain capabilities.
Tata Electronics said the partnership is intended to accelerate the establishment of a resilient semiconductor ecosystem in India while supporting the long-term development of local technical expertise.
The facility is expected to manufacture semiconductors for applications including automotive, communications, AI, and industrial electronics.
The Dholera fab is being developed as India seeks to establish domestic front-end semiconductor manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imported chips.
Alongside ASML, Taiwan-based Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) is supporting Tata Electronics through a technology transfer agreement for the Dholera semiconductor fab.
PSMC is providing semiconductor manufacturing expertise, engineering support, and workforce training to help establish India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication facility.
