MRC has provided its third cleanroom for Rafarm in Greece. With the first project in the early 2000's, UAE-based MRC's has now built three cleanrooms for the manufacturing facility in Greece.
Project Manager for Rafarm, Matthew Stevenson, explains that the recently completed 3rd facility is a sterile vial filling cleanroom.
MRC's scope for this project included design, supply and installation of MRC's GRP cleanroom and associated accessories as well as the design, supply, installation and validation of the HVAC system.
All three of Rafarm's MRC cleanrooms use MRC's GRP panelling system, plus the facilities also include many of MRC's key accessories such as step over benches, transfer hatch's (pass box), cupboards, door interlock systems, windows, machine access panels and a large ceiling-mounted LAF for an ISO Class 5 area with unidirectional airflow. The project has 42 MRC GRP swing doors also.
It was a challenging and interesting project for the MRC team on the ground; the major constraint was the height of the civil building, meaning the design and installation of the HVAC system had to be strictly coordinated with site conditions; however, with proper planning and a flexible design approach, the team worked around it and the project has been completed and validated and the facility is already in operation.
"It was a pleasure working with the Rafarm team on what was a technically challenging turnkey project. I wish the Rafarm team all the very best and I'm looking forward to seeing Rafarm continue to grow" said Stephenson.
MRC is happy to play a part in enabling RAFARM's ambition to produce medicines with highly advanced technological specifications while expanding its reach all over the world.
