Increasingly frequently it occurs that the customers want to fully utilise the existing space so as to build a clean room as big as possible to contain all the machinery and staff. However, installation spaces are needed on at least two sides of walls and over the cleanroom ceilings. Below we will tell you how Airkey makes a modular clean room to fully use the limited space for a Canadian client. This modular clean room includes an ISO 5 area and an ISO 7 area, with total area of 30 square meters, designed for pharmaceutical production in Ontario, Canada.

Cleanroom ceilings:
It is universally acknowledged that some clearance should be left above the fan filter units installed on top of cleanroom. Normally speaking, at least 200mm of space should be guaranteed so that the fan filter units can absorbs in sufficient airflow to the cleanroom. In addition to this, installation and maintenance space should be ensured, about 300mm, which is also necessary for the future replacement of air filters. We generally recommend to leave about 600mm clearance above the cleanroom ceiling if the customers have the room. However, in more and more occasions, customers only have beam height of 2.7m or so. Deducting the 600mm clearance, only 2.1m cleanroom height is left, which is barely enough for machinery and any staff who is tall. To solve this issue, we developed super-thin fan filter units which can save up to 150mm space above the ceiling. That is to say, for the same 2.7m beam height, the cleanroom height can be 2.25m, small but great leap for our customers.

Cleanroom walls:
When it comes to cleanroom walls, in scenario where space is not enough, it is desired that the cleanroom walls to be built against the existing walls, so as to fully utilise all the space left. The challenge is however, extra room is needed for installation and maintenance. In response to this, Airkey proposes internal-mounted cleanroom wall structures. The components of the cleanroom can be entirely fixed, connected and dismounted from inside the cleanroom. These are the new developments made by Airkey to help customers fully utilise the limited space for cleanroom construction. We will continue to make innovations to adapt to the evolving demands.
