Coherent, a US-based semiconductor manufacturing company, has announced it is selling its epitaxial fabrication facility in Champaign, Illinois.
The move is part of the company's broader strategy to optimise its manufacturing footprint.
The facility, spanning 65,000 sqft, includes five G3 epitaxial (epi) systems housed within 15,000 square feet of Class 1000 ballroom-style cleanrooms.

It is equipped to support up to 10 epitaxial tools and has previously been used for the production of 2-inch to 6-inch indium phosphide and gallium arsenide wafers.
Situated just six miles from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the site comprises four buildings and includes a range of fabrication and characterisation equipment.
The sale of this facility aligns with Coherent’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across its manufacturing sites.
