TD Packaging's new factory includes ISO 9 cleanroom
A major expansion programme by TD Packaging saw the company move into a new 158,000 sq. ft. site on the Groundwell industrial estate in Swindon.
This has increased its capacity for existing services and enabled the introduction of a range of new packaging options. The new facilities include 20 pharmaceutical packaging lines housed within an ISO class 9 cleanroom environment, with the entire production area fully temperature and humidity controlled within the 105,000 sq.ft cleanroom. TD's expanded range of packaging will include all types of blister packing; liquid filling; tablet and capsule filling; sachet filling; skin packing; cartoning; overwrapping; labelling; ink jet coding and case packing. The move represents a £3.2m investment. The design and fitting out of the building is being handled by J&J Designs, while the new equipment is being supplied by companies including Romaco and PAGO. "TD Packaging offers more than just a simple contract packaging service, in many ways acting as a packaging consultant service," said Martin Tedham, managing director, TD Packaging. "We have often been able to advise on ways of improving the design or material used for a pack, as well as the packaging process, allowing our customers to improve efficiency and save money. "Examples include a special postal pack developed for a major health supplement supplier, and a unique steam tunnel to shrink full length sleeves onto glass bottles more efficiently." Established in 1996, TD has displayed continuous growth, providing contract packaging services to companies of all sizes, from countries including Germany, France, Switzerland, Israel, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
