Deloitte has acquired Cannabis Compliance Inc. (CCI), a Canadian consultancy firm based in Mississauga, near Toronto. The move aims to enhance Deloitte's growing cannabis consulting practice.
Specialising in licensing and compliance, CCI has become a trusted advisor to many Canadian cannabis business leaders.
Now established as CCI Deloitte, the company will offer substantial resources and in-depth knowledge across the entire cannabis consulting spectrum.
“Canada has quickly become a global leader in the cannabis industry,” said Anthony Viel, Deloitte Canada CEO.
By putting Canadian values at the forefront, we can shape the future of responsible and competitive cannabis business growth
Viel pointed out that as legislation evolves in other countries, businesses need to understand and prepare for unique risks and challenges. "Businesses will need to continue innovating to secure a healthy, sustainable competitive position. By putting Canadian values at the forefront, we can shape the future of responsible and competitive cannabis business growth to help the industry mature in Canada and around the world," he said.
The acquisition adds CCI’s 75 employees to Deloitte's headquarters in downtown Toronto.
CCI’s founder and chair, Brian Wagner, has joined Deloitte as a senior advisor. President and CEO Dale Hooper, Chief Financial Officer Sid Hathiramani, and Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Karina Lahnakoski will become partners in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory practice.
