New facility expands in-house test and wafer sort capacity as demand for custom ASICs rises globally

ICsense has opened a new ISO-7 certified Electronic Wafer Sort (EWS) cleanroom to strengthen its in-house production and testing footprint.

“These in-house capabilities come on top of the existing supply model we have offered through OSATs for over a decade,” said Bram De Muer, CEO of ICsense.

ICsense is a Belgium-based, fab-independent ASIC design and testing company, providing end-to-end custom integrated circuit solutions for automotive, medical, industrial, and consumer electronics markets.

ASICs, or application-specific integrated circuits, are custom-designed chips built for a particular task, offering higher efficiency and performance than general-purpose processors.

The cleanroom is a key part of ICsense’s latest investment programme, designed to meet growing demand for high-reliability, high-volume ASICs.

It strengthens the company’s capacity to offer complete turnkey solutions, from electrical wafer sorting and final testing to scalable volume production, while allowing customers to work with multiple manufacturing partners rather than being tied to a single ecosystem.

The expanded EWS cleanroom, equipped with additional automated test equipment (ATE) and expanded production/testing capacity, positions ICsense to support annual volumes exceeding 500 million ASIC units.

This milestone reflects growing demand across key markets, including automotive, medical technology, industrial and consumer electronics.

ICsense’s fab-independent approach enables customers to select foundries and process technologies that best suit their requirements, aiming to reduce geopolitical risk and diversify supply chains in a tightening semiconductor landscape.
