Hosokawa's Bexmill gets hygiene improvements

Hosokawa Micron has updated it's Bexmill cone mill to fit the increasing hygiene requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Designed for processing materials which may be fatty, heat-sensitive, sticky or moist, the unit features an easy to clean conical chamber design and is gas and dust tight. A “through the wall” version of the Bexmill, which keeps all drives and control components in a separate safe area, is also available for use in pharmaceutical cleanrooms.

Heat generation is minimal because of the short residence time and low drive motor powers, and the mill produces a ground product with a steep particle size distribution curve, Hosokawa says.

Maintenance of the machine has been made easier due to the introduction of releasing external swingbolts - exposing the grinding rotor and inner screen for cleaning.

Dust filtration is not required with the Bexmill, the company says, because there is no airflow to carry fine particles out of the grinding system. Available in five sizes from 1.5kW to 15kW, the mill can cope with a variety of products by changing the internals.
