MGS has completed a 115,000 sqft expansion of its Leixlip, Ireland manufacturing facility.
The extension adds new cleanroom, automation and assembly capabilities to support increased demand from healthcare customers.
The company manufactures precision injection-moulded components, assemblies and tooling solutions for pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device applications, including drug delivery devices and diagnostic consumables.
The expanded facility includes additional cleanroom space, automation areas, warehouse capacity, a new office, a metrology laboratory and upgraded maintenance infrastructure.
The site now provides 8,000 sqm of pharma, diagnostic and med tech manufacturing space, including ISO Class 7 and 8 cleanrooms and a controlled “whiteroom” environment.
A white room is a versatile solution that shares the same purpose as a cleanroom in preventing contamination, but white rooms do not require the stringent certifications that cleanrooms do.
This key difference makes white rooms a cost-effective choice for industries where high-level sanitation is not mandatory but a controlled environment is still crucial, offering a tailored solution to specific business needs.
The ISO 13485-certified Leixlip facility began operations in 2011 and has grown to around 200 employees supporting precision manufacturing and engineering activities.
The certification means that a company’s processes have been independently assessed and found to meet requirements for consistently producing safe, reliable medical devices and components.
The expansion increases MGS’s European manufacturing capacity for customers requiring controlled production environments for healthcare components.
"MGS Leixlip Ireland site features a brand new 115,000 sqft expansion, [as we are] dedicated to expanding our capacity to meet growing demand,” said Kieran Fahey, Project Manager at MGS in a LinkedIn video.
