UK-based contractor Glencar has started piling work on the final phase of Pure Data Centres’ Brent Cross campus in North London.
The 23,000 sq m facility, known as LON01B2, will add 70MW of capacity, taking the campus to 90MW when complete.
Glencar is delivering the West Cold Shell, including piling and foundations, underground services, structural framing and connections to the adjacent East Cold Shell. Its scope also covers concrete and slab works, stair cores, the building envelope and roofing.
The work is being carried out within the existing data centre campus, where the 20MW Building 1 is operational and fit-out is continuing on the East Cold Shell.
The project forms the final major construction phase of the £1bn-plus Brent Cross development.
Liquid-cooled data centre
The facility is being developed as a liquid-cooled data centre designed to support high-density computing, including artificial intelligence inference and cloud workloads.
The facility will use a closed-loop liquid-cooling system to manage heat generated by high-density computing equipment.
The wider development is also incorporating recycled steel and low-carbon components.
Completion of the B2 facility is scheduled for the second quarter of 2029.
Glencar said the start of piling marks the transition of the project into its structural construction phase.
The contractor is delivering the West Cold Shell while coordinating construction activity with the ongoing fit-out of the adjacent East Cold Shell and operations at the existing facility.
