France-based EREMS, a designer of electronic equipment and software for high-tech applications, has completed a €10m ($11.4m) facility investment.
The investment, €6.7m ($7.7m) of which was put towards infrastructure, was used to expand and modernise the company's facility, bringing the floor space to 4,000 sqm, which included 450 sqm of cleanroom.
This new industrial facility is based in the Flourens industrial zone, which sits approximately 10 kilometres east of Toulouse, and will be used to integrate new production technologies, and meet the growing needs of major space programmes.
Located in this facility's cleanroom, there is now a milestone production line that enables the assembly of state-of-the-art components in accordance with the most stringent aerospace standards, while meeting the mass production requirements associated with satellite constellations.
The site design was carefully designed to streamline workflows. To do this, the design features new interconnected cleanrooms, testing laboratories, collaborative spaces, and a building dedicated to employees.

For sustainability and cost savings, photovoltaic canopies also enable the site to generate some of its own energy for on-site consumption.
With this strategic investment, EREMS now has the industrial and technological capabilities needed to keep pace with developments in the space sector. By strengthening both its production capabilities and its market position in a rapidly changing landscape, the company intends to continue its growth by simultaneously serving both government programs and the new trends driven by the New Space movement.
The New Space (or NewSpace) movement is an ongoing shift from state-run, government-funded space exploration to a commercially driven, entrepreneurial industry
