Entries are invited for 2016-17 S-Lab Awards
Applicants can present projects for judging at the Nottingham Laboratory Design and Services Conference in September
The S-Lab 2016-2017 Awards are now open for entries.
Entries can cover any topic relevant to good practice in laboratory design, management and operation for laboratories based anywhere in the world, whether from academic, public, commercial or private organisations.
The organisers say they will initially focus on applications for new and refurbished labs, ventilation and other topics relevant to the Laboratory Design and Services Conference taking place in Nottingham on 21 September.
Applicants will be invited to present at that event, which will form part of the judging process. The Awards will be determined in time for a presentation dinner at the 2017 Conference.
The S-Lab Laboratory Design and Services conference will be held at the GSK Jubilee Campus in Nottingham.
The University of Nottingham expects to complete the GlaxoSmithKline Carbon Neutral Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry on its Jubilee Campus this summer. This facility is remarkable not only for its sustainability features, but also because of its innovative approaches to science teaching and research. Tours of the laboratory will be available during the event, and other Nottingham developments and lab projects from other organisations will also be showcased.
Three new themes have been added to the Nottingham Laboratory Design and Services event:
- Designing facilities for multi-science teaching, with sessions on new chemistry and life science developments
- Laboratory design in Africa and Asia, with presentations on developments in China, Gambia, and Singapore that will reflect on implications for UK design
- Masterclass sessions on understanding and optimising laboratory extract systems
