Clean offices for food production facility

Troax’s Toledo cleanroom partitioning system has been used to create a dust-free office complex within a food production area of breakfast cereal manufacturer Cereal Partners.

The partitioning meets the strict hygiene standards required in the controlled environment of the factory, in Welwyn Garden City, UK.

Shredded Wheat, Shreddies, Golden Nuggets and Cheerios are among the cereals made at the factory, formed in 1990 as a joint venture between Nestle and US-based General Mills.

The two offices are each approximately 15m2 and have been designed by Troax to fit within an existing production area – a modular construction offered the highest level of flexibility. The office walls reach up to the roof void at a height of 4.5m, creating a completely enclosed unit.

Toledo partitioning is a medium-spec cleanroom system made of steel monoblocs, which uses inert and non-particle shedding finish to attain easy to clean and smooth surfaces. Its two line junction has a flush line cover channel and double glazing system, meaning minimal ledges and corners.

Troax also custom-designed flush glazed polycarbonate window panels for the project, which conforms to the health and safety considerations in a food environment because polycarbonate will not shatter and contaminate the area. Polycarbonate safety vision panels in doors allow full visibility for disabled employees and visitors.
