AluClean Hygiene Polish gives aluminium pallets a longer life

Published: 9-Jul-2009

Schneider Leichtbau’s aluminium pallet with AluClean Hygiene Polish for the pharmaceutical industry meets the hygienic standards of the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations. During the AluClean process, the surface of the aluminium pallet is smoothed, reduced and compressed. A more intensive oxide layer is formed, continuing to provide protection despite the subsequent effects of wear and tear.

In addition, surface roughness is reduced to Sterile Classes 4 and 5 according to DIN 4768/1, with an average peak-to-valley height (Ra) of 0.4 to 0.8. Thus the surface gains in stress relief and adhesive power is reduced, meaning that liquids trickle away and foreign substances cannot adhere.

Aluminium pallets are said to have a low specific gravity, strength, good corrosion resistance and can be fully recycled.

Schneider Leichtbau says they are also more hygienic than plastic and in terms of disinfection, 50% cheaper over a five-year period. With the addition of the AluClean Hygiene Polish, the company says aluminium pallets become super hygienic and antibacterial, lighter and cheaper to disinfect, as well as having a longer life. www.schneider-gmbh.de
