Whitehouse launches filter testing standard
UK-based Whitehouse Scientific is introducing a new range of narrow particle size distribution challenge microspheres, designed for testing the efficiency of filters.
Starting at 1µm, each grade of these glass micro-sphere standards is only a few microns in width. This means that they provide an extremely sensitive means of determining the maximum pore size of all types of filter media. For pore sizes of up to about 20µm, dilute suspensions are presented to the filter media and the particle sizes compared before and after the challenging process. Above 20µm the test can be performed dry using sonic energy, with the pore size then simply read from a calibration graph. The company is also preparing to launch a range of standards for particle size image analysers.
