Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Pharma Manufacturing)
Report to: Head of Production
Job purpose
To undertake maintenance work at Sterling Manufacturing facility to support production teams.
Job description
- To be first resource in company to trouble shoot process equipment break downs relating to pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging machines.
- To have knowledge & experience of homogenisors, agitators, motors & vacuum systems.
- To have knowledge and experience of liquid filling machines, blister packing equipment & cartoning machines.
- To undertake periodic preventative maintenance.
- To support production in operation of machines.
- To provide training and support in line set ups and shut downs for tooling setting to production personnel.
- To run the repair & fabrication workshop in inspection and repairs of equipment.
- To ensure all company tools are managed, stored and used as manufacturer recommendations.
- To collate all process equipment manuals & list of parts and spares.
- To maintain database of equipment supplier technical contacts.
- To ensure compressed air system is performing as per Pharmaceutical requirements and to undertake maintenance periodically and perform repairs when required.
- To assist external professional electricians in electrical distribution boards and wiring connections for power and light points.
- To undertake minor electrical works.
- To be familiar with Pharmaceutical HVAC systems for maintenance of clean room classified areas.
- To undertake HVAC system filter changes and periodic monitoring of clean room and assisting external validation engineers.
- To undertake wider house-keeping maintenance activities such as painting of walls, floors, ceilings and doors.
- To co-ordinate with external contractors for maintenance of fire and intruder alarm systems.
- To assist Head of Production in selection of new equipment when required.
- To identify product contact parts for any used equipment purchased and perform passivation prior to be put in use in collaboration with Head of Production.
- To participate in training provided by vendors when new equipment is installed & commissioned.
Requisite academic qualifications, knowledge base & work experience
- Technical diploma in mechanical & fabrication Engineering.
- Experience in maintenance & fabrication environments in pharma companies of at least of 3 years.
- To have knowledge of Quality Management Systems, documentations such as SOPs, commissioning protocols & reports.
- To have knowledge of a variety of process equipment components such as motors, pumps, inverters, control panels, gear systems, mechanical systems such as crank and cam shafts etc.
- To be a good team worker with good communication skills written and oral.

Salary: £18,000 to £25,000 per year depending on experience.
