Unique storage solutions

Nottinghamshire-based interiors and storage specialists, Butler & Willow, have just completed two contracts with international pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to develop and install a unique solution for the storage of chemicals. Both contracts were at AstraZeneca's PRD Laboratories in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The first was to design and install a bespoke ventilated mobile shelving system, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, which will be used for the storage of chemicals. It includes a ventilation system that draws off unwanted gases through the perforated back panels and a high-quality sliding glass door at the front of each bay to contain any gases. Butler & Willow were required to build a prototype of the system before being awarded the contract by Lab Furnishings (UK) Ltd of Hull; leading manufacturers of standard- and custom-built laboratory furniture systems and fume cupboards. The second contract, which was awarded to Butler & Willow by AstraZeneca direct, was an extension to the original scheme above and was for the installation of a further 89 storage bays.
