T-Squared advances fast-track quantum facility for QuEra Computing at Harwell Campus

Published: 7-May-2025

The facility will support the UK’s expanding quantum technology sector and enhance QuEra’s operational presence within one of Europe’s leading science and innovation hubs

T-Squared, a Glasgow-based specialist engineering firm, has made significant progress on delivering a new purpose-built quantum facility for QuEra Computing, a US-based quantum computing company.

QuEra Computing, recognised globally for its work in neutral atom quantum computing, engaged T-Squared shortly after the Christmas period to design and deliver the highly specialised facility.

The facility was constructed on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, one of the UK’s leading research clusters, and represents one of the first developments of its kind outside of the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).

The new facility aims to play a pivotal role in supporting the UK’s rapidly growing quantum technology sector, providing QuEra with a state-of-the-art environment for its ongoing R&D and operational activities within the country.

The facility has been designed from scratch in just four weeks

The T-Squared team completed the facility’s bespoke design from a blank slate in just four weeks — a testament to the firm’s integrated, in-house design capabilities and its ability to respond swiftly to complex technical briefs.

The initiative underscores T-Squared’s position as a key player in the delivery of high-specification cleanrooms and controlled environments, particularly in sectors where speed to market and uncompromising technical standards are paramount.

“This fast-track approach demonstrates our capability to deliver high-quality, purpose-built environments at remarkable speed — a key differentiator in an increasingly competitive market,” a T-Squared spokesperson commented.

The facility’s proximity to the NQCC and wider Harwell campus ecosystem positions it at the heart of one of Europe’s most active science and technology communities.

As the UK continues to prioritise quantum technology within its national innovation strategy, projects of this nature are expected to become increasingly central to the country’s ambition to remain at the forefront of advanced computing research.
