STD Med adds cleanroom and space for start-ups

US medical device manufacturer STD Med is to expand its cleanroom capacity and create 50 new jobs over the next three years in order to cope with growth.

The Stoughton, MA firm has added a new 32,000ft² (292m²) facility in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts to its current 120,000ft² (11,100m²) of space.

“We are excited to be growing and advancing the company during these difficult financial times," said Steven Tallarida, president of STD Med. “We attribute this growth to the premise on which STD Med was founded 58 years ago by Primo Tallarida: hard work, the American Dream and luck sure doesn’t hurt.”

In addition to increasing the cleanroom capacity, the new facility will house several STD Med start-up companies, including Spirus Medical and Cardiosolutions, as well as venture capital firm, Makaira Venture Partners.

The facility is scheduled to open during the summer.
