Science means business
The 13th international trade fair for biotechnology, Biotechnica 2003, will be taking place in Hanover this year. The organisers say it will cover areas such as medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, nutrition, the environment, bioengineering, equipment and services. Biotechnology is now one of the most highly innovative and important growth sectors worldwide. Biotechnica was founded in 1985 and takes place every two years. In addition to basic research, it places the spotlight on equipment, bio-informatics and services, as well as on solutions-centred applications. Two years ago, there were around 1,100 exhibitors and the organisers hope this will be equalled in October. As with previous trade shows, this year's exhibition programme will be complemented with a scientific congress, as well as conferences and workshops.
