Safer EDI water source offered as retrofit option

Water specialist Christ has launched the world's first electro-deionisation (EDI) module with an integrated membrane stage. Septron Bio-Safe is based on the proven and patented spiral-wound technology and has an additional membrane stage for removal of particles and bacteria.

The combination of this module with a preceding reverse osmosis stage makes it possible – without additional ultrafiltration – to produce Highly Purified Water (HPW) with bacterial counts of below 10 CFU/100ml. The module can be retrofitted quickly and easily on existing Osmotron systems and permits a considerable improvement in the microbiological safety of existing pure water systems.

The EDI module is available in a cold-water version and a version that can be sanitised with hot water. Both come in various sizes with outputs of 500 to 3,000 l/h. The cold-water version offers the benefits of high pure water quality and low energy costs, while the hot water-resistant system can be sanitised at above 80°C, resulting in better system safety.
