Plastic alternative to metal fittings

Colder Products Company (CPC) has introduced its first NSH Series non-spill coupling "to increase the speed, safety and economics of tubing connections".

The NSH Series is said to provide a lightweight, durable and economical replacement for expensive metal non-spill couplings, ball valves, and spill-prone fittings. The NSH's all-plastic flow path is claimed to be ideal for high-flow chemical handling and fluid media applications in the chemical and biopharmaceutical sectors. Based on CPC's ChemQuik Series high purity couplings, the NSH provides a pressure-balanced, low turbulence connection which the company says enables fluid lines to be instantly disconnected under pressure, virtually eliminating the opportunity for spills. The NSH incorporates an easy-to-use thumb latch to allow for secure, single-handed operation. An audible "click" confirms that a secure connection is made. A metal-free and spring-free flow path allows the NSH to provide a corrosion-resistant connection. Also available is what CPC says is a unique field installed panel mount adapter accessory that can be used to turn any coupling body (socket) or insert (plug) into a sealing bulkhead solution without requiring additional inventory. The company says the new, non-spill connection device can withstand operating pressures from vacuum to 120 psig (8.3 bar) and temperatures from 0°C to 49°C.
