Parker Hannifin launches validated sterile pharma filter

A final sterilising, ultra high purity filter series for use in critical applications in the biopharmaceutical industry has been launched by the process filtration division of Parker Hannifin.

The Sterion PP and PT filters will operate at maximum continuous temperatures of 95°C, with maximum steam sterilisation times of up to 40 hours at 121°C without the integrity of the component being compromised, the company says. The filter cartridges are available in 0.1, 0.2, 0.45 and 0.65µm absolute removal ratings. Each membrane is 100% integrity tested prior to shipment and the pharmaceutical validation guide is available on request. Double layer membrane, which allows a pre-filtration layer or secondary barrier ensuring bacterial retention, can also be specified. Other benefits include high flow rates and very low extractables; each cartridge is labelled with lot number, micron rating and product code.
