Tristel launches Hot Shot in the UK

New surface disinfectant has been introduced to the UK market

Tristel, the manufacturer of infection prevention products, has announced the UK launch of Hot Shot, its latest surface disinfectant product.

The offering is part of Cache, a new product range dedicated entirely to surface disinfection.

"Cache incorporates the same technology that made Tristel products successful: a proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry of unmatched efficacy, ease of use and compatibility," the company explained in a statement.

An industry first, Hot Shot features a dual-compartment burstable capsule for the generation of 500ml chlorine dioxide working solution, tested to the latest EN standards. It is CE marked as a Class IIa Medical Device (MDD 93/42 EEC).

Hot Shot decouples the liquid from the spreader, allowing the user to decide how to disperse it.

Each Hot Shot capsule contains two pre-measured concentrate solutions, which are only released when burst into a Hot Shot bottle filled with 500ml of tap water. This creates a secure closed-loop system, meaning exposure to the concentrate solution is drastically reduced. A Doser is affixed to the HOT SHOT Bottle which delivers a 5ml consistent dose to the spreader of the user’s choice for each application.

Tristel said Hot Shot protects surfaces against spores, mycobacteria, viruses, yeast and bacteria found in healthcare settings with a realistic contact time of five minutes.

The product can be used against Clostridium difficile (C. diff), Mycobacterium terrae, Adenovirus Type 5, Candida albicans, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) Enterococcus faecium, and Escherichia coli (E. coli)

"One Hot Shot can disinfect an entire patient bedspace compared to many wipes. This means hospitals can eliminate the use of single-use plastic wipes when cleaning and disinfecting hospital surfaces," Tristel said in a statement.
