Three-minute cold disinfection

Published: 12-Feb-2010

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s cold disinfection technology instantly disinfects the entire cold cryo-chamber of the Microm HM550 Cryostat series in just three minutes. Other solutions require at least a two-hour warm-up period followed by a 30-minute disinfection process, or UV light, which takes at least 30 minutes, the company says.

Other benefits of cold disinfection include speed and a more streamlined, uninterrupted workflow. The Microm HM550 Cryostat can be used immediately after the disinfection cycle is complete, resulting in significantly higher throughput.

Thermo Fisher’s cold disinfection technology uses Sanosil, a powerful disinfectant and virucide that is said to be 99.99% effective against more than 144 pathogens. The Sanosil disinfectant is also non-toxic and non-carcinogenic when used as directed, making it safe for lab technicians.
