AdvanceTEC completes VBF facility for Merck & Co

The construction forms a part of Merck\'s high-volume manufacturing vaccine plant in Durham, NC, USA


AdvanceTEC, has successfully completed the construction of Merck’s BF Program facility, a state of the art high-volume manufacturing vaccine plant in Durham, NC.

AdvanceTEC was awarded the project in December 2008 for construction of the advanced cGMP cleanroom facility. 
“The construction of Merck’s VBF facility was unprecedented in size and speed of construction, and AdvanceTEC was honored to play a critical role in its success,” said Glenn Wakefield, AdvanceTEC director of internal operations. “This project marks the latest success in a string of Merck projects for AdvanceTEC, working closely Jacobs Engineering. Our proven collaboration with Jacobs, and the technical competency and dedication of our design and field construction personnel enables AdvanceTEC to reduce risk, compress schedules, and ensure project success for our clients.”

At the peak of the Merck cGMP cleanroom facility project, AdvanceTEC’s crew included over 70 skilled construction personnel. AdvanceTEC’s overall scope of services included: design collaboration and detailed design, project management, on-site construction and construction management, module fabrication with full integration and coordination of the cGMP architectural details, walkable ceiling and interstitial coordination, as well as plenum module installation and integration.
