New oil-free air compressor tests well
Industrial business provider Atlas Copco has launched the Z series of oil-free rotary screw air compressors, the first to be certified ISO 8573-1 Class 0 by TÜV (the German Technical Monitoring Association).
The compressors are designed for use in food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging, automotive paint spraying and powder coating, and textile and electronic manufacturing, and eliminate the risk of any oil contamination.
Strict testing methods that simulated realistic industrial installation environments certified that under all conditions - including varied temperatures and pressure bars - no traces of oil could be detected, placing the Z series compressors in the Class 0 category in terms of oil content.
“These test results prove that Atlas Copco’s oil-free rotary screw compressors decrease operating costs, but also constitute a good choice when it comes to managing risks”, said Luc Hendrickx, president of Atlas Copco’s Oil-free Air division.
Even trace quantities of oil can result in damaged batches or products, high rejection rates and expensive production downtime and clean-up.
