New antibacterial TV remote designed for hospital use

Clean Remote, is a new patent pending TV remote control that features an anti-bacterial, flat surface that effectively reduces contamination among shared users.


Studies have shown that over 89% of Nursecall TV remotes culture positive for microbial contamination. A Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine study found hospital bed handsets, including nurse call equipment and television controls, to contain biologic material and contaminated with microbes.

Cracks and crevices from other TV remotes may allow ingress or egress of microbes, spores or bodily fluids.

Available through the US-based medical equipment distributor SourceWell Supply Company, Clean Remote features an easy-wipe non-porous flat surface that makes it easy to clean and disinfect. Its careful design makes it ideal for hospitals, nursing homes, elderly care facilities and the general hospitality industry.
