Mondiaquartz announces inauguration of site in Bernin

Mondiaquartz have announced the inauguration of their new industrial site at Bernin, a unique cleanroom standards site in Europe.

Mr. Aimar Maine, CEO of Mondiaquartz, inaugurated the new industrial site at Bernin near Grenoble. Bernin is the first site in Europe to apply microelectronics industry standards to quartz production. Mondiaquartz will use the site to produce products for the manufacturing of 300mm wafers. The new production unit has an annual production capacity of more than 20 million euros in turnover and its unique design in Europe is capable of producing quartz to meet the most stringent standards of ultra-purity. Bernin is the first site in Europe to apply microelectronics industry standards to quartz production and to guarantee cleanroom conditions from one end of the production line to the other. The site includes 1,500 m2 of air-conditioned production shops; two class 10 flow cleanrooms for cleaning and packaging inspection. The building has been designed to comply with ISO 14000 standards. Mondiaquartz S.A specialises in processing, manufacturing and maintaining quartz. Sales for 2001 totalled 1 million euros and its current workforce stands at 25.
