Merck launches packaging sacks

Published: 30-Jan-2004

The Life Science Products Division of Merck, of Germany, has developed an innovative packaging system that offers improved safety for pharmaceutical production. The sack-within-a-sack is made from PE and is very stable to provide optimal safety during transport and storage. A simple perforation enables the two sacks to be separated, leaving a clean, uncontaminated surface once the outer sack is removed. Previously, contamination adhering to conventional sacks could unintentionally be carried into clean production areas. With the new system, the stable internal and external sacks prevent the transfer of such contamination. The system was specially designed for use in cleanrooms and safety is significantly increased when handling pharmaceutical substances. The internal sack is inscribed with all the relevant product data, which avoids mix-ups and time-consuming refilling processes.
