Help at hand for stressed bacteria

The European pharmacopoeia (E.P) requires that water used in the pharmaceutical industry is monitored microbiologically. The medium recommended for this is R2A agar (medium S), and is specifically formulated to allow sub-lethally stressed bacteria to recover and grow to form countable colonies. bioMérieux's new medium complies with the requirements of the E.P. and has shown in internal evaluations to perform extremely well in recovering stressed micro-organisms. This new medium adds to the already extensive portfolio of media that bioMérieux supplies to the pharmaceutical industry for sterile and non-sterile product testing and environmental monitoring.
