Guyson launches auto breakaway couplings

Published: 11-Apr-2005

Guyson has introduced the Kaptech Klaw range of automatic breakaway couplings for use in flexible hose connections to moveable sources such as road tankers. By acting as the weakest link in the transfer line the Kaptech Klaw coupling disconnects if an excessive tensile load is applied to the line (e.g. a tanker is driven away whilst the hose is still attached) so that damage to the hose; pipework; pump; vehicle; storage tank, etc. is avoided. After a breakaway has occurred the coupling can be easily re-set in a few minutes on site by a maintenance engineer The Kaptech Klaw hygienic breakaway coupling has been specially developed for use within the food industry. It has a smooth, polished, unrestricted flow-path without potential bug traps, is manufactured throughout from 316 stainless steel and has an FDA-approved silicone seal. End connections can be RJT, IDF, flanges, etc., according to customer requirements. Variations in application conditions mean that breakload settings are individually calculated and set by the factory in accordance with application data from the customer/ The coupling is intended for use with non-hazardous fluids to protect transfer equipment and personnel. For hazardous fluids Guyson has an alternative range of breakaway couplings with automatic shut-off on breakaway. Enquiry card number: 112
