FEI buys new campus

FEI has bought a new campus in Oregon to consolidate its local operations at one site and provide room for expansion. One building on the site covers 6000m2 with space for offices and another has 10,000m2 for R&D and manufacturing. Semiconductor cleanroom space and facilities, as well as demonstration labs, will be included. FEI will begin moving operations, currently housed in five separate buildings, to the new site later this year. FEI's total investment in the new location will be $23mn. The new campus was previously owned by Tokyo Electron. The company is due to merge with Veeco making a a new firm with 2900 employees. The new site could be home to more than 500 Veeco FEI employees.
