Esco brings the east to the west

Singapore-based cleanroom specialist Esco – a manufacturer of clean air, containment and laboratory equipment – has set up its "first direct presence" in the US market with the opening of a new subsidiary, Esco Technologies, based in Philadelphia.

The new unit will be responsible for sales and marketing support for the company's distributors in the US, as well as overall strategic business development in the Americas. Its product lines will include Esco's range of biohazard safety; laminar flow; HEPA-filtered laboratory cabinets and equipment; ductless fume cabinets; filtered chemical storage systems; laboratory fume hoods; cleanroom construction components, including fan filter units, air showers and pass boxes; equipment for modular cleanrooms and cleanroom garments. A recent report published by McIlvaine, "Cleanrooms: World Markets", expects sales of cleanroom hardware and consumables to reach $9.1bn by 2006, compared with $6.5bn in 2000.
