Eastwood Park partners with the Institute of Decontamination Sciences
Eastwood Park Training Centre has been appointed the official training partner of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc).
The two organisations have already been working together on establishing and delivering the Decontamination NVQ, so this is a logical next step towards implementing wider development opportunities in decontamination.
The first 17 candidates taking the new NVQ Level 3 Decontamination succeeded in gaining their award in under a year, where normally this can take from 18-24 months. This has been attributed to the new “activity based” assessment practice designed and delivered by the Training Centre.
“Working with Eastwood Park will enable the Institute to develop and extend its education provision to enhance the professional development of all of our members and help attract new ones,” said Gillian Sills, IDSc Director of Education.
It is intended that the two organisations will work closely together to create a development “curriculum” that meets the needs and aspirations of decontamination staff and prepares them for further learning, training or employment opportunities.
“We have considerable experience in developing and delivering qualifications, courses, seminars and CPD provision in decontamination and are actively planning additional provision in each of these areas in conjunction with the IDSc,” added John Thatcher, director of training and chief executive at Eastwood Park.
