Create a cleanroom with PharmaSystem
PortaFab, a manufacturer and designer of pre-engineered modular building systems, has introduced the PharmaSystem modular wall and ceiling system for cleanroom or critical environment applications.
“In order to protect the integrity of their products, companies need cleanrooms that adhere to the utmost standards,” said Wayne McGee, president of PortaFab. “The PharmaSystem walls meet the needs of the biomedical, pharmaceutical and life sciences fields by providing a monolithic wall surface that eliminates areas for micro-organisms to inhabit.”
Whether for a new facility or retrofitting an existing facility, the PharmaSystem walls are said to be easy to install. Integrated with metal stud framework, the walls can hang off one or both sides of studs, creating a utility chase. To create a smooth panel transition across the surface of a wall, panels have formed or cut edges to connect directly to one another and use a caulk joint, gel coat or chemical weld. Individual panels are removed by striking the joints and taking them off the framework, making them flexible and easy to relocate. Made of non-combustible, non-porous and non-outgassing materials, typical construction involves aluminum honeycomb cores and skins that are non-hygroscopic and corrosion resistant. The surfaces withstand repeated cleaning and sanitisation with various chemicals and are resistant to sustaining microbial and fungal growth, the company adds. All wall and ceiling panels feature a surface applied, smooth unplasticised PVC finish that allows panel faces to be chemically welded to one another to create smooth straight-line seams. www.portafab.com
