Contract assembled

SP Technology has won a contract for the production of assembly machines for the actuator unit of Weston Medical Group's Intraject needlefree drug delivery system. SP Technology has already supplied Weston Medical with several semi-automated actuator assembly machines and has commenced the manufacture of a commercial-scale actuator assembly system. SP Technology won this major contract in the face of stiff competition from a number of leading European companies involved in the production of automation systems. Steve Jordan, production engineering manager at Weston Medical, commented: "From the initial presentation of concepts through to the development of prototypes, SP Technology has consistently demonstrated the ability to innovate successful assembly solutions for our device. Coupled with a willingness to become closely involved with process development and equipment manufacture, SP Technology has been able to offer the type of approach sought by Weston Medical." SP Technology designs and manufactures technologically advanced special purpose machinery and automation. Weston Medical's commercial-scale actuator assembly system will be developed and engineered at SP Technology's recently opened purpose built facility in Dundee, Scotland.
