Clean and sterile
Sterilox Technologies' UK subsidiary Sterilox Medical (Europe) has received US Patent No. 6,632,347 B1 for its proprietary method for operating an electrochemical cell to produce a room-temperature high-level disinfectant that is non-toxic to humans and broadly effective against a wide range of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and spores. This method covers the generator systems used to generate Sterilox.
The method covered in this patent includes innovations that allow the generators alone to deliver electrochemically activated dilute salt solutions with quantifiable and validated chemical and microbiological properties. In addition, the method also validates the capability of the generator systems to produce, in specification, the Sterilox biocidal solution on demand, on site, anywhere, independent of water quality or electrical variability. This method has been incorporated in the design and manufacture of its US-1-2008, MidiGen and 2501 generators for use in medical applications such as high-level disinfection of endoscopes, hard surface disinfection, and dental water line disinfection, as well as its recently released A-2000 generator for use in retail food and food service industries. David Anderson, CEO of Sterilox Technologies, commented: "This Sterilox technology allows customers to select their disinfectant without having to consider a trade-off between effectiveness and safety for the medical, dental and food industries."
