Genesis rigid sterilisation container system validated for modern low-temp sterilisation practices

Global medical technology company BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has launched a new line of surgical instrument sterilisation containers. The Genesis Low Temperature Rigid Sterilization Container System is validated for newer low-temperature sterilisation processes and systems from market-leading steriliser manufacturers, including the V-PRO Low Temperature Sterilisation Systems from Steris and STERRAD Systems from Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP).

Low-temperature sterilisation is a fast-growing trend in sterile processing and is used for instrumentation that cannot withstand the high-temperature and moisture present in traditional steam sterilisation practices.

The new containers have a visually differentiated set of orange components to differentiate them quickly and easily from Genesis containers intended for other sterilisation processes. The line provides long-lasting protection and sterility maintenance for surgical instrumentation. Genesis containers are offered in a variety of sizes to help organise and secure instruments prior to surgery. Genesis containers also provide an environmentally friendly alternative to sterilisation wrap.

'Our new containers have been validated for today's latest low-temperature processes,' said Jim Leitl, worldwide vice president and general manager for Infection Prevention, V. Mueller and Interventional Specialties at BD. 'We will continue to extend our leadership in sterilisation containers and surgical instrumentation through innovations that positively impact both clinical and financial outcomes.'

The new Genesis Low Temperature Rigid Sterilization Container System will be commercially available later this spring.
