Avon’s Escape Hood receives CE Mark

Avon Protection’s EH20 Escape Hood, the purposely designed compact escape hood to protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) agents, has achieved the CE Mark, ensuring that the hood conforms to strict European guidelines on health and safety.

The vacuum-sealed EH20 is stored in a compact pouch small enough to fit in a desk drawer or wear on a belt. When needed, the one-size-fits-all hood can be donned within 30 seconds over beards, long hair and even glasses, Avon says.

Made of clear polyurethrene, the EH20 protects against airborne chemical, biological and radiological threats and also protects the face from splashes of agent. Twin low profile filters on a unique hinge system feature the very latest membrane technology that reduces breathing resistance and also ensures ease of putting on.

The EH20 Escape Hood was designed by Avon in association with the Police National CBRN Centre at Winterbourne Gunner for use by "First Responders" - those who would arrive "first" at a crisis situation. The Police CBRN centre originally identified a need for a device to protect Police Officers who could be vulnerable to a CBRN attack but who wouldn’t normally have a respirator as part of their standard uniform.
