Analytical Technology introduces chlorine dioxide monitoring system

UK company Analytical Technology (ATi) has introduced the Q45H/65 residual chlorine dioxide monitor for the online monitoring and control of industrial disinfection systems.

The system is suitable for use in water plants as well as food processing and beverage facilities. The Q45H/65 responds to chlorine dioxide with minimal interference from any residual chlorine that may be present.

Chlorine dioxide is a powerful disinfecting agent used of treating potable water, cooling water and food processing wash water. To ensure proper disinfection while minimising disinfection by-products, the concentration of disinfectant must be precisely maintained.

The Q45H/65 chlorine dioxide monitor from ATi features a membrane-covered polarographic sensor that does not require the addition of expensive chemical reagents. All that is needed is a consistent flow of water across the face of the sensor, which can be provided by a simple constant-head flowcell. The sample water is unaffected by the measurement and can be safely discharged back into the process.

The Q45H/65 is designed with the flexibility to meet a variety of monitoring applications. In its simplest format, the unit is a loop-powered transmitter operating from standard 24 VDC power supplies. This facilitates easy integration into many DCS, PLC and SCADA systems.

In addition, ATi's residual chlorine dioxide monitor can be easily converted into a dual measurement system. A special pH sensor can be used to allow the monitor to display both chlorine dioxide and pH measurements.

The Q45H/65 chlorine dioxide monitor features a large, dual line display for easy legibility in the field. The standard model is programmable for display ranges of 0-2, 0-20 or 0-200 PPM, while a low level application display range of 0-200 PPB can be selected for specialist requirements.

The monitor can be wall mounted, pipe-mounted, panel-mounted or is available in a portable model.
