The opportunity to work on the design and installation of a cleanroom within a £2m purpose-built manufacturing facility enabled Airology Systems to demonstrate its ability to work to the highest operating class standard.

The customer, a photochemical producer of microstructures, required a state-of-the-art facility to ensure consistency of manufacture in a particle-free environment. Airology designed an 8,000ft2 purpose-built cleanroom to Class 1000, federal standard 209E, with selected class 100 areas. The project incorporated a double skin steel partitioning system, suspended ceiling with beams hidden within a single skin fascia and a specialised filtration and air handling unit to provide temperature and humidity control. "It was a fascinating project, particularly as the client had the foresight to invest in a cleanroom facility to develop new markets for his business," said Andrew Benson, Airology's managing director.
