Isol8, a “revolutionary” industrial absorbent, is now being supplied to the chemical industry by Northern Insulation and Pipeline Stockists (NIPS) of Harrogate.

The motor industry already uses the product, made from biodegradable coconut husk.

NIPS director Jeremy Bent said: “We could instantly see the wide potential Isol8 had for soaking all kinds of liquids - from chemicals and dyes to oil and fuel spills - in all kinds of industrial settings and scenarios.

“It's major benefit is that it is a light, compact and natural product, making it easier to use, dispose of and store,” Bent added.

NIPS customers who have already taken delivery of Isol8 include BATA Oil Distribution, fuel tank installers Fuelsafe, Brighouse, AirLiquide industrial and medical gas manufacturers, and Process Combustion Engineering.

Derek Godley, stores manager of Process Combustion Engineering said: “We decided to give it a try after reading some of the testimonials written about it and I have to say we are delighted with it. It's extremely efficient and it's clean to handle and dispose of.”
