3T Medical Systems builds cleanroom in the US
Medical products manufacturer to move production from Puerto Rico
US-based 3T Medical Systems Inc. has acquired a product line from Stryker Corp. and is building a clean room and manufacturing facility near its headquarters so it can move production from Puerto Rico, Crain's Detroit Business has reported. Both companies are headquartered in Michigan.
The medical product manufacturer plans to start production at the company's Canton site by late summer. The facility has been designed to manufacture the ConstaVac CBCII, a disposable system used in operating rooms to collect and reinfuse a patient's blood during operations.
CEO Jack Kelley said revenue for ConstaVac was about US$10 million last year and would decline a bit this year as 3T sets up manufacturing in Michigan.
According to news reports, 3T Medical Systems will recruit about 10 people to run the cleanroom and manufacturing facility. Currently, the company employs 25 and uses contract manufacturers throughout Michigan.
