Double buy to expand Howorth’s product offering
Bolton-based clean air specialist Howorth Air Technology has made a double acquisition worth £4m
Bolton-based clean air specialist Howorth Air Technology has made a double acquisition worth £4m that aims to give its customers a broader product offering.
The company, which designs manufactures and installs ultra clean air systems and ancillary products for operating theatres and clean air containment solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, has bought Westbury Filters and Filtermation Products.
Barclays Ventures, which funded a management buyout by Howorth itself in 2007, is again supporting the company in its latest acquisition.
The businesses employ 33 staff from two locations in Betchworth, Surrey and Burnley, Lancashire. Andrew Parker will join the enlarged group and will be responsible for after market sales and service activities.
The combined group is forecasting turnover in excess of £30m in the next 12 months, up from £20m at the time of the original management buy-in.
Howorth ceo Andrew Steel, said: ‘Westbury and Filtermation are highly complementary to Howorth’s core activity. By making these acquisitions and with the addition of Parker’s expertise, we will be able to provide a broader product offering to our customers and meet their ongoing service and maintenance requirements more pro-actively. This is an exciting development for the Howorth Group, and clearly strengthens our focus and capabilities in the air technology sector.’
Andy Lees, regional director of Barclays Ventures said: ‘These acquisitions build on the progress already being made at Howorth and further strengthen the team and the current service offering.’
