Pharmaceutical carbon reduction expert EECO2 achieves B Corp status

A relatively unique certification in the cleanroom design industry, EECO2 has been determined to meet the necessary high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability for B Corporation status

EECO2 has achieved certification as a B Corporation (B Corp).

The UK-based company provides carbon reduction strategies for major global pharmaceutical companies.

This includes services like net zero planning and 3C sustainability assessments. Specific cleanroom design strategies include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) -enabled ventilation design, specifically via the ICCS (Intelligent Cleanroom Control System).

ICCS (registered trademark) is EECO2's product that adjusts the ventilation rate (air change rates) in a cleanroom to react to the live environment.

Though the industry has historically set cleanrooms at 20 air changes an hour, this has been proven time and again to not be a universal requirement in order to achieve necessary air quality standards. EECO₂ has demonstrated that air change rates can be reduced dramatically (from 18 to 3.5 ACH), cutting energy (and carbon) use by around 65%, while maintaining compliance.

There are very few cleanroom design-focused companies certified as B Corp

The B Corp certification, awarded by the non-profit B Lab, recognises businesses that use their operations as a force for good, aligning financial goals with positive social and environmental impact. EECO2 now joins a growing community of companies worldwide, dedicated to redefining business success.

This assessment process requires verified transparency and accountability, demonstrating EECO2’s commitment to operating responsibly at every level and reflecting dedication to ethical business practices.

There are very few cleanroom design-focused companies certified as B Corp, such as Area Laboratories. Even still, with the services provided, EECO2 is relatively unique in this regard.

“This certification is a significant milestone and achievement for EECO2,” said Rob Wallace, Group Director at EECO2. “We have always believed that our business should deliver a positive impact for our clients and the planet. Achieving B Corp status validates the work we’ve done and continues the journey to a more sustainable future”.

This achievement demonstrates high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability alongside a commitment to goals beyond stakeholder value
