VITEK 2 Compact GP card gains international approval
Card used to identify Gram-Positive bacteria now has AOAC OMA approval for food safety testing
bioMérieux, a world leader in the field of in vitro diagnostics, has received AOAC OMA (Official Methods of AnalysisS) approval for the VITEK 2 Compact GP card used to identify Gram-Positive bacteria. This continues a legacy of OMA approval for the VITEK automated methods, such as the GN card (used to identify Gram-Negative bacteria) that was AOAC OMA approved in December 2011.
The VITEK 2 Compact is the only automated system to receive OMA approval for the identification of Listeria and Staphylococcus species.
“The international approval for the VITEK 2 Compact Gram Positive Card further illustrates bioMérieux’s commitment to providing high quality testing solutions to our customers,” said Jean-Marc Durano, Corporate Vice President, Industrial Microbiology. “It’s another international recognition for the VITEK 2 Compact system that will help food industries manage their product safety.”
The VITEK 2 Compact was launched with the introduction of Advanced Colorimetric Technology, capable of barcoding for quality and full traceability from sample to result and an enhanced database. The VITEK 2 Compact system answers QC laboratory testing needs for fast and accurate microbial identification. The technology includes an expanded identification database, the most automated platform available, rapid results, improved confidence and minimal training time.
The full range of identification test cards includes the following:
- GN card for Gram-negative bacilli
- GP for Gram-positive cocci
- BCL for Gram-positive spore forming bacilli
- YST for yeast-like organisms
- ANC for anaerobic bacteria
- CBC for corynebacterium spp
