Parker Bioscience Filtration has appointed a new Market Development Manager-Biopharma to support its growth in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector. David Heaney has taken up the role after spending nearly three years as a Technical Support Scientist with the company.
David is based at Parker Bioscience Filtration's Birtley, UK site and will be responsible for shaping and delivering its marketing strategy for the biopharmaceutical sector, drawing on his extensive technical and troubleshooting experience, and his in-depth knowledge of industry challenges.
In his previous role, he provided technical support for customers across the biopharmaceutical, food and beverage, infection control and water treatment markets, supported the optimisation of customers' filtration processes, designed and delivered training, managed technical projects for product applications and process developments, and advised Parker Bioscience Filtration's EMEA-wide sales team.
David has a background in biochemistry and chemistry, and before joining Parker Bioscience Filtration, he held the post of Quality Control Technician at a major multi-national manufacturing company.
Parker Bioscience Filtration is part of Parker Hannifin, the world's leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems. It designs, supplies and delivers whole systems for both upstream and downstream pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
With sites in Birtley, UK and Oxnard, California, the company supports customers both locally and globally in improving process control, efficiency and supply chain security throughout their production and packaging processes.
Parker Bioscience Filtration provides integrated bioprocessing solutions that accelerate development times, and increase efficiency and safety to enable reproducible quality. Incorporating the expertise within SciLog and domnick hunter, the company combines filtration, single-use fluid-handling systems and sensors into automated single-use solutions.
Parker Bioscience Filtration recently unveiled brand new, expanded facilities at its Birtley site; this follows the completion of a major, phased investment programme.
The programme included the creation of state-of-the-art office and conferencing spaces, extended laboratories and new cleanroom, manufacturing and testing facilities. The investment programme has also seen the launch of The SciLog Suite, a facility which will provide Parker Bioscience Filtration's customers with the opportunity to test and optimise key unit operations within their production process, supporting process development.
David Heaney said: "Since joining the Parker Bioscience Filtration team three years ago, I have seen the positive impact we can make on biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations first hand."
Heaney added: "I'm greatly looking forward to using my experience to connect customers with the innovative solutions Parker Bioscience Filtration offers across single-use systems, filtration, automation and sensing, and helping them to develop and supply life-changing drugs which can make a real difference to patients' lives.
He finished: "With the recent investment in our Birtley site, we can offer an even higher level of support to our global customer base. It's very exciting to be playing my part in promoting Parker Bioscience Filtration and to have the opportunity to spearhead our growth in the biopharmaceutical market."
Kris Holmes, General Manager of Parker Bioscience Filtration, added: "David's technical expertise and deep understanding of our customers will be key assets in his new role as Market Development Manager. His work has given him a great insight into the challenges that biopharmaceutical manufacturers face and this will play an important part in how we shape and deliver our marketing strategy, and support our global customer base."
